The Fellowship of Awakening- September 25, 2013

Teachers of God,
We are finishing the Pillars in our fifth hall, The Hall of the Body. The introduction says "The body is a fence the Son of God imagines he has built, to separate parts of his Self from other parts...The body is a dream...The body is the means by which God's Son returns to sanity."

The Pillars are:
1.  The body is the means by which God's Son returns to sanity.
2.  Let me perceive no differences today.
3.  My holy vision sees all things as pure.
4.  I am surrounded by the Love of God.
5.  Creation's gentleness is all I see.
6.  My holy Self abides in you, God's Son.
7.  My heart is beating in the peace of God.
8.  Let all things be exactly as they are.
9.  My sight goes forth to look upon Christ's face.
10.I will not use the body's eyes today.

As I am fond of saying, there are two open secrets in A Course In Miracles. They are one: That You Wrote It and two: The World Is Your Body. This illuminates this section a bit better for us if we remember that. The way home is through the body. We must feel our feelings and be present in our bodies. Yoga is one system that helps us do this, but there are many. We are on the path to sanity when we fully inhabit our bodies, that is the world. Are we here now, in this place? Nothing can be compared to anything else, you know. It's all pure love, just as we are pure love. We are gently held in this experience of Love. We live in the Heart of Peace, God. There is nothing that must change for our happiness and enjoyment. The joy we seek is looking back at us if we have eyes to see it.

At almost 13 pages a week, we're up to Chapter 24: The Goal of Specialness. Specialness is an important concept in ACIM. Specialness is what the course calls our desire to have something just for ourselves. 'Specialness is the great dictator of wrong decisions." It cannot be satisfied. I characterize this with Rev. Yolanda's famous quote from the CBGB Years: "Don't you know who I am?" and recently with the Mel Brooks quote: "It's Good to be the King." We must believe that we are just bodies for this specialness to exist. The opposite is what the Course calls 'the Christ' it's the part of yourself that you share with God and everyone else, you/our wholeness. We can operate from this belief in wholeness and unity and connectivity or a belief in specialness. And different results flow to us, of course.

Explanation of Images:

When choose a special relationship we go into a dark forest and seek what cannot be found. It’s a fearful place where our survival is threatened. When we offer our lives and to the care of our Christ (anointed) consciousness we are informed about how to be, where to go and what to say. We are safe and joyful in the presence of God. Others will offer us a way confirm our specialness with comparisons and guilt. Our wholeness will show us our love for all beings and our connection to Life.
