Teachers of God;
Lesson 188
The peace of God is shining in me now.
Why wait for Heaven? Those who seek the light are merely covering their eyes. The light is in them now. enlightenment is but a recognition, not a change at all. Light is not of the world, yet you who bear the light in you are alien here as well. The light came with you from your native home, and stayed with you because it is your own. It is the only thing you bring with you from Him Who is your Source. It shines in you because it lights your home, and leads you back to where it came from and you are at home.
We're looking at another section in the Forgiveness of Illusions. Here we are continuing to confront ourselves as we move into the inner sanctum, into relationship with all that is. Our biggest and most regular temptation to veer off the path is the lure of a Special Relationship. We're returning to that this week and comparing it to what we expect from the Universe. That feeling of specialness is quite addictive. Being the Golden boy at work, or getting an award, or even being asked for an help and advice. We too often are satisfied with being puffed up instead of the feeling of completeness. So we look at where that completion is. And where it's not.

Explanation of Images: We have confused feeling special and privileged with being happy. We can even say we’re a bit mad at God for not making our lives easier, more beautiful and influential. We will never be God’s favorite. So we make the mistake of trying to get this feeling from others, be it a boss, lover, friend or important enemy. We want to be important, have power over others and control of our environment so we can finally be happy and do our thing without anyone getting in the way. We deserve to have this privilege and God is denying it to us. This feeling comes from the belief that we’re not complete and whole just as we are. We feel guilt and shame because our lives aren’t important in some way. There is no form that will complete it. It’s joining in this moment, crossing that short bridge from fantasy to reality, that we know wholeness. It’s heaven. It’s right here as us.
